A commitment to slow fashion

We believe luxury should never come at the cost of ethics. That’s why all of our garments are made in-house in our English atelier, where we can ensure fair wages, safe working conditions, and uncompromising quality at every step. There is no outsourcing, no sweatshop labor, and no mass production—ever.

Our workshop is powered 100% by renewable energy, and we offset carbon emissions for all of our shipments—for free! Our materials are sourced from local and independent suppliers, and we use recycled and recyclable packaging to minimize our environmental footprint. We also believe in giving back. Since the onset of COVID-19, we’ve donated time and materials to produce scrubs for NHS workers and contributed to a range of charitable causes, including 10% of all March 2022 sales going to the DEC's Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal and an ongoing donation of 5% of sales from our Papillon range to support butterfly conservation in the UK.

The designer

Angela Friedman’s design sensibility was shaped behind the scenes of the theater. With a background in theatrical costuming, she spent years crafting couture garments for ballet, opera, and theatre, most notably as Head of the Ladies’ Department at the New York City Ballet. There she oversaw the creation of more than 300 costumes per season, perfecting the balance between beautiful garments and the practical function of those pieces on the stage.

She also worked as a freelance tailor for New York Fashion Week for seven years, collaborating with numerous luxury fashion houses on bespoke tailoring and couture garment construction. It was this inspiration that ultimately led her to develop her own fashion brand in 2012 and launch Angela Friedman Ltd.

Her lingerie designs draw from these opulent worlds of performance and luxury. Romantic yet wearable, dramatic yet refined, each piece channels the grace of a prima ballerina, so that you too can feel like the star of your own story.
