The inspiration behind the Meadow range
Within The Jewel Box Collection, there are pieces that feel rich and dramatic, like something you might find glinting in candlelight at the back of a drawer. But the Meadow range feels uniquely different: It’s quieter, softer, and a little more personal.
The idea actually began with something very simple, a pressed wildflower, the kind you forget inside a favorite book and rediscover years later. Slightly faded, a little imperfect, but still beautiful because of what it reminds you of. That feeling of holding onto something fleeting became the starting point for this design, and everything grew naturally from there!

Wildflower meadows, close to home
The inspiration wasn’t abstract or far away at all. It came from the wildflower meadows near our designer Angela’s home, the places she returns to again and again whenever she needs a bit of a reset. Every spring and summer, these meadows come alive, tangled and slightly unruly, but in the best possible way!
If you look closely at the embroidery, you can pick out the individual flowers: Primrose, blue flax, buttercup, daisy, forget-me-not... They aren't arranged in neat bouquets, but scattered and intertwined, just as they grow in the wild. That looseness was especially important to Angela: It needed to feel natural, almost accidental, like something you just happened upon on a long walk, during those quiet moments where you notice small things you might otherwise miss. This set carries a bit of that feeling with it.

Designing the embroidery
Of course, translating all of that softness and emotion into embroidery was a challenge! What feels effortless in nature rarely behaves the same way in thread.
Angela drew the initial design first by hand and then digitally, but getting it to look just right took far longer than expected. There were so many rounds of sampling that we nearly ran out of time! Colors adjusted, thread qualities changed, tiny details like leaves reworked over and over again...
For that reason, Meadow was the last design to be finalized in the entire Jewel Box Collection. It finally came together just days before the photoshoots, after what felt like endless iterations of samples from the embroidery factory. But then, all of a sudden, it finally clicked! The shades of deep magenta, bright periwinkle, soft yellow, and green finally felt true, and everything settled into place.
Even the finishing touches were carefully considered: The green elastic trims were custom dyed to match the fresh, grassy tones of the original inspiration photographs, which tie together the final details of the perfect English landscape.

Light as air, by design
From the beginning, this set was meant to feel as light as possible, almost like wearing nothing at all. The base textile is an ultra-sheer tulle, chosen specifically for its softness and lightness, so the embroidery would sit gently against the skin without any added weight. There’s no silk on this set, a bit unusual for Angela Friedman designs, but entirely intentional to keep the designs fully transparent and a little bit ethereal.
Subtle structure comes from the details you don’t see from the exterior: plush beige elastics under the scalloped embroidery edges that feel smooth rather than firm, and soft thin cup linings. We added a bit of extra detail in adjustability for the bras (at the center back strap and bra straps) and both the thong and briefs (adjustable waistband straps) for easy gift-giving and any size fluctuations.
The Meadow lingerie set is one of those things that you simply put it on, and it just feels right.

A different mood within The Jewel Box Collection
The Jewel Box Collection as a whole leans into richness, with silk satins, deep colors, shimmering charms, and that sense of glow you get from gemstones and candlelight. But Meadow sits slightly to the side of that world: It’s lighter and a bit more undone. If some pieces feel like evening, this one feels more like early morning, when everything is still quiet and the light is soft.
Meadow has also become one of Angela’s personal favorites, which says a lot, especially because it offers something a little different! No one wants high drama all the time. Sometimes you just want something soft. Something you can live in and hardly even notice.

A Piece to Live In
At the end of the day, the Meadow set isn’t about occasion dressing, and it’s not something you should save and wait for the “right” moment to wear.
It’s the opposite, really! It’s for ordinary days. For mornings when you’re getting ready slowly, or evenings when you’re winding down. For those small, in-between moments that don’t usually get much attention, but probably should. Like a pressed flower tucked between pages, it holds onto a feeling rather than trying to make a statement. Soft, familiar, and quietly beautiful in a way that doesn’t need to announce itself.
