The inspiration behind The Jewel Box Collection

Musings on the new collection, from our designer Angela Friedman:

When I began dreaming up The Jewel Box Collection, I kept thinking about the small treasures we keep tucked away. Not the kind on display, but the little things that feel secret and personal. I wanted this collection to carry that same sense of discovery: the feeling of opening a jewelry box and finding something beautiful, just for you.

In the studio, the process is as much a part of the story as the final garment. The hum of the sewing machine, the careful placement of embroidery, the sound of shears slicing through silk fibers... These are the details that bring each piece to life. We work slowly here in our English atelier, cutting and sewing in small batches, making sure that every piece feels special. Nothing about this is rushed, and we produce minimal waste and no overstock. It is the exact opposite of fast fashion, and that's just how I like it.

The inspiration for the color palette came directly from the glow of gemstones. Ruby, sapphire, and emerald sit alongside softer hues of rose and gold. Some laces remind me of a secret garden at dusk, while coral and golden embroideries feel like the breaking light of an early morning. The palette is rich, but it also has a softness that makes it timeless.

The designs themselves are meant to be little treasures you live with and cherish for many years. A bralette overlaid in French lace with tiny flowers and swirls that float across your skin. A lushly embroidered garter belt that makes even the simplest day feel worth celebrating. A robe in flowing silk that you reach for again and again because slipping into it becomes a ritual. These are not pieces to reserve for rare special occasions, but rather to treat as daily luxuries, made to be worn and enjoyed.

For me, The Jewel Box Collection is not about putting on a show. It's about how these garments make you feel. The pleasure of silk against your skin. The secret shimmer of lace under lamplight. The joy of keeping something beautiful close, even if no one else sees it. That's the magic I wanted to capture, because the most precious treasures are always the ones you keep for yourself.
