Where is Angela Friedman manufactured?
All of our designs are proudly made in the USA! Our private atelier is in Durham, North Carolina, and almost everything is made in-house. You can feel good about supporting American manufacturing and detailed hand craftsmanship when you buy lingerie from Angela Friedman.
Do you have a storefront? Can I shop in person?
We do not have a permanent brick-and-mortar store. We occasionally meet clients in our private atelier in Durham, NC, but most of our sales are via the internet. During busy periods and the holiday season, we also host pop-up shops and private trunk shows in the New York City area. (More information on trunk shows.)
How do I find my size?
Our sizing is based on body measurements. The easiest way to determine your size is to use a tape measure and compare the numbers to our size chart. You can also use your US dress size to determine your sizing. Please be aware that different brands use different size charts, so you may not wear the same size in Angela Friedman lingerie as you do from your local bra shop. Our lounge wear (slips, robes, shorts, etc) are intended for a relaxed fit, so when in doubt, size up!
What about custom or specialty sizes?
We make custom pieces all the time! Maybe you're just in between sizes, or plus sized, or need to accommodate a pregnant tummy, or have a fuller bustline, or maybe you just want a slip that's a few inches longer or a robe with shorter sleeves... Or maybe you just don't fit into the limitations of our ready to wear size chart - But don't fret, because we can make something that's right for you. Just contact us, and we'll answer your inquiry within 24 hours.
I'm buying a gift, and I'm a little overwhelmed - can you help me?
YES. We are here to help! We have an entire page dedicated to giving Gift Advice to those confused sweethearts who don't know where to begin. What if it doesn't fit?
If you're concerned about sizing, you're not alone! We know it can be a difficult process to guess the correct size and fit for different body types. First of all, contact us with your fitting questions before placing your order. (We will respond to your inquiry within 24 hours, usually less!) Sometimes it's best just to ask the professionals. But no one is perfect, and if there's a problem with your order or you've chosen the wrong size, contact us to resolve the problem. Please do not return your items without emailing us first - some items, like knickers and sale items, are not returnable. (More information on returns.)
I'm located in (xyz) - will you ship to me?
Yes! We proudly ship our designs worldwide, and we have clients from Chile to Singapore to Denmark to Egypt to New Zealand! For more information on shipping terms and estimated timing, see our shipping page.
What does the packaging look like? I want to ship it to my work address!
It looks like very plain, very boring packaging from the outside. We ship in brown cardboard boxes and grey poly envelopes with no logos or imagery on the outside. The "from" line will read "Angela Friedman Inc," but that is the only identifying information. Your boss will never know that package is silk lingerie!
I need something ASAP - can you rush my order?
We'll try. We can always rush processing for you - at no additional charge - but shipping times and sewing times are a bit more complex. That is to say, if your item (and size and color) is in stock, we can get it into the mail for you the same day, no problem. But if your item is made-to-order (and many of our items are), it may not be possible to rush the production (cutting and sewing) aspect. This depends on the time of year (November through February are our busiest months), what's on the agenda for the week, how many items are ahead of yours in the order queue, etc. If you think you may be in a hurry, the best thing you can do is to contact us immediately with your specific needs. We can often meet your deadlines, albeit sometimes with a rush production fee.
If you're in an enormous rush and need something like today, we have gift certificates! We offer PDF gift certificates in case of a lingerie emergency - you'll receive one in your email inbox right away.
What about rush shipping?
Our items ship via USPS, first class mail (small parcels) and priority mail (corsets and very large orders). If you would like to upgrade to Fedex for options such as next-day or second-day delivery, please contact us to ask about your options, or indicate your preference in the comments section at checkout. We will then invoice you for the additional shipping charges. Please note we cannot ship any items before the rush shipping fees are paid in full.
How do I pay for my order? Is it secure?
Our shopping cart system is integrated with Stripe, a credit card processing system that is exceptionally secure, so you don't need to worry about inputting your information. We also accept PayPal payments for your convenience. Your personal information is kept privately and securely in our office, and we would never sell or give away any information about our clients.
How do I put on my corset? Can I wash it?
If you're new to wearing corsets, we're here to help! We send along detailed instructions with every corset purchase. You'll receive complete directions (with diagrams!) on how to properly put on your corset, how to break it in without hurting yourself, how to properly remove it, and wash and care instructions. If you have any other specific questions about sizing, custom corsets, or care, please contact us directly. Note that we are not medical professionals and cannot advise you on medical questions. If you have a question about corset safety or how a corset might interact with your medical condition, consult your doctor.
How do I wash my lingerie?
You'll find basic care instructions on the product page of each item, as well as care tags sewn into your lingerie. For our larger items like lounge wear pieces, gowns, robes, and silk corsets, we do recommend dry cleaning as your primary care, as this will help maintain the luster of the silk and the longevity of the garment. For bras and panties, you can easily hand wash them in your sink with a specially-formulated silk or delicates wash: Just soak in cool soapy water for a few minutes, swish around to loosen any dirt, and gently rinse. Then lay your items onto a towel, and folding the towel over the lingerie, press the excess moisture out. Finally, lay flat to dry on a second, dry towel. Do not put your delicates in the washing machine or the dryer, and do not use bleach or harsh detergents.
When are you going to have a sale?
In short? Not often. We don't believe in artificially inflating prices in order to have big sales like some other retailers do. Instead, we believe in charging prices that honestly reflect the value of the time, energy, and materials that go into each design. Manufacturing in the United States in a small studio is much more costly than mass-production overseas, and so our pricing may be somewhat higher than you're accustomed to seeing at your local department store or shopping center. But we're confident that once you try on luxury silk lingerie, you'll be convinced! Besides, you can always join our newsletter to hear about the small promotions that we do occasionally. We often do a pre-sale of a few select items from a new collection, and we sometimes sell discounted samples.
Can I model for you? Promote? Intern?
