Valentine's Day shopping guide for gift-givers!
We get it - shopping for Valentine's Day lingerie can be really tricky. Maybe the items in your local stores seem cheesy or cheap. Or you just dread the thought of stepping foot in one of those over-perfumed, overly-pink shops at all! Let us help you out instead - all from the comfort of your sofa.
Whether she's a longtime Angela Friedman fan or whether you want to introduce her to our luxury designer lingerie for the first time... This will be a gift that she will truly cherish!
Our lingerie is designed to make her feel sophisticated and elegant, and our goal is to enhance her beautiful body in a way that's relaxing and enjoyable. These pieces are sexy without being tawdry, and decadent without being unwearable. They're designed to mix and match into her existing lingerie wardrobe, so you can even start with just one or two pieces.
Where to begin?
When in doubt about colors, black is almost always the safest choice. It's universally flattering, you won't risk introducing a color that she simply doesn't wear, and she can easily mix and match it with her current wardrobe. Try a black lingerie gift set, a waspie corset that she can wear as an undergarment or layer over a little black dress, a daring and sultry sheer lace slip, or a pair of silk tap pants (shorts) to sleep in.
On the other hand, if you happen to know that she loves pink or tends to prefer bright colors, go for it! Just make sure you're considering what she truly enjoys, rather than just what you'd like to see her wear. (It may tempting - but remember this is a gift for her, not you!)
Now is not the time to try to convince her to try a new look! If you know that she tends towards classic silhouettes, or she doesn't like ruffles, or she rarely wears slips, pay attention! Especially if this gift is a surprise, we recommend buying something that will safely fit into her current wardrobe - you can shop together for something more adventurous later on.
Our gift sets fit the bill easily. We recommend a pair of knickers and a sleep mask. Even if she isn't used to wearing fancy lingerie, she can certainly enjoy one nice pair and a little bit of extra shut-eye! This is a great introduction to the brand that's also pretty forgiving when it comes to size. (More on size options below!)
Bras and panties (especially in silk!) are always popular gifts because most women wear them regularly. But don't forget that there are other options as well! What about a luxurious silk robe that she can layer over her existing lingerie wardrobe? Has she always dreamed of wearing a real corset? Or does she want to try wearing stockings but doesn't have a garter belt? This can be a great opportunity to indulge her in something that she has been admiring from afar.
The most frequent question we get from gift-givers is "What size do I buy?!" No one wants to select the wrong size, and guessing can be quite difficult if you aren't familiar with how lingerie sizing works. Rest assured, we help our customers with this all the time. If you're stuck, email us with your questions and we'll respond within 24 hours. (Really!)
The simplest option is to peek into her wardrobe or lingerie chest if you can - and make sure to check several brands in case there are a range of sizes. Please note that this is designer sizing and it may be smaller than what you see at your local mall.
We have included approximate dress sizes below in our size chart to make it easier: For example, if she generally wears a size 8, choose size Medium. But if she usually wears a size 8 except for very fitted items when she purchases a size 10, then you may want to size up to a Large. (Bear in mind that relaxed fit items like slips aren't intended to be skin tight, so it's safer to size up so that she can lounge more comfortably.)
We size our garments in a way that makes for easy gifting, which is why we don't use traditional bra sizes like 32B or 34C. Our bralettes will best fit cup sizes B and C, though many of our customers who wear an A or D cup are also happy with the fit. The cups of our bras are triangle-style, and many of them stretch to accommodate different breast volumes. Our two most supportive styles for larger busts are the Minuit bra and the Elle bra, which are both made in soft but sturdy stretch mesh.
Although we love our full-cup size friends, we understand the limitations of bralettes (bras without underwires), and many women simply find that they are not supportive enough for larger cup sizes (above a D). If you're looking for luxurious silk and lace lingerie in full cup sizes DD - G, I highly recommend British brand Harlow and Fox. But if you have your heart set on Angela Friedman lingerie - and I know you do - you can always gift her something that doesn't require cup size fitting, like a wrapped robe or a waist cincher corset. Here are some pretty options for all cup sizes:
